Peter Fritsch is a part time vicar of both St. James, Coquille and St. Christopher’s, Port Orford, Episcopal churches. He was raised in Redwood City, CA and Westport, CT, attended Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA as a Music Education major, then finished at the Music Conservatory at the University of the Pacific, Stockton, CA with a degree in Music Therapy in 1974.
He received his Master of Divinity from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, Berkeley, CA in 1992, He was ordained a priest in 1992 in the Diocese of Northern CA where he started a new congregation from scratch that grew to a vibrant community of faith that continues today in Rocklin, CA. He led two more large congregations in TX and MA, before leaving parish work in 2003 to focus on retreat work, teaching workshops on the inner life, and writing. Later in life, he also received a LUTCF Financial Services degree from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA, in 2009.
Peter is a avid reader, with a wide interest spanning Jungian Psychology, Sociology, Western History, Philosophy, Biography and Autobiography, Healing of Body and Soul, Prayer, Church History both Eastern and Western, Christian Mysticism, Biblical Criticism and scholarship, the Mediterranean Goddesses, Western Art and Architecture History, Native American studies, the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke, Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, and others.
He has published four books.

He is currently writing books on the Reality of Evil and what prayer can do to confront it, and a specific history of American evil, writing from the perspective of psychology and Christian priesthood.
Peter moved to Pecs, Hungary in July 2015, met and married Monika Farkas, a Hungarian Medical Doctor, Family Practice and here in Oregon, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Between them they have five grown children and two grandchildren.
Peter is a musician who has played oboe in university, piano, guitar, and enjoys songwriting and folk singing for fun and worship.
He continues to work as a spiritual director for people of all faiths throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, and Australia. He enjoys helping people integrate their interpersonal skills with their relationship with God.
